Message from the Principal

12052009_82556_0.pngIt is hard to believe that we are in the final countdown to summer vacation.  The next few weeks are going to be a flurry of great activities in every classroom.

Even with summer on our minds the staff is beginning to think and plan for next year.  Staffing and classroom organization discussions for next school year are well underway in our school.   While all of the thinking is tentative and subject to change some of our staff changes are permanent.

The Dawnview Community will be saying goodbye to the following staff members:

Mme Brisson is retiring after a 30 year career in teaching.  Her dedication to students throughout her career has been unwavering.  We hope that she enjoys retirement and gets to spend more time with her “boys” and her family.

Mme Winterton will be enjoying a leave of absence next year.  Mme. Winterton has been an amazing staff member in the Dawnview French Immersion program and she will be missed.  We wish her well as she explores other interests and gets to spend lots of time with her grandson Ben.

Mrs. Sanderson is very excited about her transfer to Walkerton Public School.  We will miss her but we know that she will do great things in Walkerton.

Mrs. Knoll is also transferring and is leaving our Dawnview community.  She will be joining the staff of Mildmay Carrick Public School.  It is hard to imagine this school without Mrs. Knoll but the students of Mildmay are getting a fabulous teacher.

Mme Halfpenny was only with us a short period of time and we wish her well as she moves onto her next adventures.

Mrs. Humphreys will also be missed as she heads down the highway to join the staff of Spruce Ridge Community School.

The Dawnview Community is an amazing group of energetic and dedicated people.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as the principal of this great school.  I will miss everyone but I look forward to my new placement as the principal of Macphail Memorial Elementary School in Flesherton.  I know that the incoming principal, Mrs. Sarah Slater, will have a wonderful experience here at Dawnview and that this community will welcome and support her.

Enjoy the last few weeks of school and a wonderful summer.
